If Sulu says it.... I'm on board!!!

George Takei Takes On 'Twilight': 'Star Trek,' 'Star Wars' Fans Should Unite (VIDEO)

Star nerds, unite.

Leave it to Mr. Sulu to broker peace between the warring factions of "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" fans. Following the back and forth battle for space franchise superiority between his Enterprise captain William Shatner and the secret Skywalker Carrie Fisher, George Takei has appealed to the supporters of each sci-fi series to come together and fight back against their true common enemy: the bloodsucking romance, "Twilight."

"Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie, or epic battle. In its place we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school," Takei said. "Now, I'm not above mixing in a little sex appeal to spice up the fantasy, but sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in 'Twilight'... In 'Twilight,' the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'"

Valid points, all. But whether his appeal, after over thirty years of debate, will work -- that remains to be seen.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

This is a great telling of the tale of a little girl who just wanted an answer to the simple question- is there a Santa Claus?

Read the real response below or here - http://www.newseum.org/yesvirginia/

"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?

"VIRGINIA O'HANLON.
"115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

"My whole life I don't know what this song means."

But now I do!

"Auld Lang Syne" (Scots pronunciation: [ˈɔːld lɑŋˈsəin]: note "s" rather than "z")[1] is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788[2][3] and set to the tune of a traditional folk song (Roud # 6294). It is well known in many countries, especially (but far from exclusively) in the English-speaking world; its traditional use being to celebrate the start of the New Year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations, and as a farewell or ending to other occasions. The international Boy Scout youth movement, in many countries, uses it as a close to jamborees and other functions.

Singing the song on Hogmanay or New Year's Eve very quickly became a Scots custom that soon spread to other parts of the British Isles. As Scots (not to mention English, Welsh and Irish people) emigrated around the world, they took the song with them.

The song begins by posing a rhetorical question as to whether it is right that old times be forgotten, and is generally interpreted as a call to remember long-standing friendships.[12] Thomson’sSelect Songs of Scotland was published in 1799 in which the second verse about greeting and toasting was moved to its present position at the end.[12]

So there ya go Harry!

Dog caught driving mobile home
Monday, November 21 2011
Nutty News Darwin, Australia - A dog was spotted driving a mobile home down the street in Darwin, Australia, after learning how to drive by observing his owner. Woodley, a 2-year-old German Koolie, allegedly took the mobile home for a spin while his owner, Richard McCormack was in a store. "I came out and saw the bus going down the road. I couldn`t believe it," McCormack said. This isn`t the first time Woodley has tried to take the wheel. "He sits next to me when I`m driving and in the driver`s seat when I`m not. The handbrake is on the dashboard and he`s seen me release it many times. He was just copying me. He`s tried it on before," said McCormack.

Man peed in bank tube
Saturday, November 5 2011
Nutty News Palm Coast, Florida - Authorities in Florida said a disgruntled bank customer urinated into a drive-in bank tube and the waste spilled onto the lap of another customer. A man pulled up to the drive-in lane at RBC Bank in Palm Coastnand asked if he could buy a money order, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The man became upset when the teller told him money orders were not available and drove away a few moments later. The next customer at the drive-in picked up the tube and liquid -- believed to be the man`s urine -- spilled onto her lap and the interior of her vehicle.

Lady Gaga Thanksgiving Special: Treat or turkey?

by Erin Strecker- EW -  for the source article -"click here"
Guard your bird: Lady Gaga may be wearing it come Thanksgiving.

lady-gaga-thanksgiving-special

It was announced last night that ABC will air A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, a 90-minute prime-time special on November 24 featuring eight performances by Gaga as well as a sit-down with Katie Couric, all taking place at Gaga’s alma mater, New York’s Sacred Heart Catholic School.

If the promotional photo at left is any indication, Lady Gaga will be going full ice princess for this show. Perhaps they’ll be skating at Rockefeller Center as well?

Unlike the Thanksgiving specials Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have done in the past, Lady Gaga will be cooking up both current hits from Born This Way, as well as classic Christmas tunes, and she apparently “conceived and directed” the entire thing herself.

In an interesting holiday-spirit twist, Gaga will reportedly be performing in front of a small group of friends and family, not a Little Monster-style rave-up. It might be a nice treat to watch reaction shots of people who actually know her; I feel like there’s not a whole lot the public is still curious to know about her at this point, but if she does the interview with her family, it might show a different side to her, and may promote some goodwill.

Speaking of goodwill, with the theme of giving thanks, we can assume Gaga will also be talking up her just-launched charity passion project, the Born This Way Foundation, which she tweeted about earlier this week. “I’m proud to announce: My mommy + I have created “The Born This Way Foundation” A place for Bravery, Love, Acceptance.”
